Welcome to Lilyposa Schoolhouse

Our play-based preschool provides a year round, half day program for children ages 2 to 5 years old at our home in the Woodstock neighborhood of Southeast Portland. We have a dedicated indoor classroom and a generous outdoor space which includes a covered patio, garden, and sandbox. Learn more about our preschool program, classroom, and curriculum below.

Our Portland Preschool Program

We are a Certified Family Childcare Provider licensed by the State of Oregon for a class size of 11 children at a time and we offer two identical morning and afternoon sessions that are three hours in length for children ages 2 to 5 years old.

Our preschool program is centered around play. We believe in engaging in play with children and allowing them to be their own directors of play. We pride ourselves on ensuring that children feel listened to and believe that this helps with children being able to express their feelings in a variety of settings.

Every week we introduce a new learning theme and integrate it into circle time and our other daily activities like reading, music, and art.

Testimonials

Words cannot express how happy Jenny and Chris make our family! Our child is thriving at Lilyposa, and is learning and growing every day. Jenny has curated a magical space for little ones with so much care and detail. We struggled to find a space for months that met all of our needs, and from scheduling, financial, curriculum and parenting/teaching philosophies - Lilyposa checks all the boxes and more. They are incredibly communicative, thoughtful and supportive, and have made the transition for him and for us seamless.”

Lilyposa Parent

Jenny and Chris have created so much more than a daycare (it's actually based on interactive play, learning, exploration), and they model fantastic boundaries in the most supportive way with positivity, which is something that so many childcare providers struggle with (based on other daycares, play schools, and preschools we have interacted with). Our preschooler has benefited so much from her time with them each day. Not only is she learning in a way that makes sense for her playful personality, but she has thrived in a whole new way by interacting with Jenny and Chris (she is palpably proud of herself and the stuff they accomplished that day). They have created a fun, enriching, wonderfully supportive environment for the growth of my kid on so many levels. I had doubted that just 3 hours per day was worth it, especially in the afternoon, but oh it is worth every cent. Also their space is super clean, beautifully designed, and constantly changing in small ways to reflect the curriculum. They follow all the guidelines with transparency and clarity as well. Ten stars!

Testimonial for Teacher Jenny from previous employer Learning Springs Academy

“I am delighted to be in a position to reassure parents about Jenny Subil as they make that very difficult decision of choosing a preschool for their child. Jenny worked at my preschool as a teacher and the skills I saw in her then will only enrich a program in which she teaches and runs! Jenny is energetic, determined and very positive in all her interactions. Her leadership skills shone through in her role of a classroom teacher where I saw her finding ways to set up each of her students for success by creatively engaging each child at his/her level and watching them flourish. Her ability to constantly think outside the box helped solve any challenge she was faced with. I do not recall an instance when Jenny was not smiling and showing care and compassion for each child and family under her care.

Jenny went out of her way to communicate and establish a comfortable rapport with each parent which immediately put them at ease and reassured them that their child would be cared for in a safe and nurturing setting.

I know this next step in Jenny’s journey is going to be successful and I can’t wait to visit her center to see her in action!”
